Today’s 30 Days of Aviary Tip: Selection Inversion
“Inversion” a cool effect that reverses all colors and shades: It turns black into white, red into cyan, purple into yellow, etc.. It’s really easy to pull off, too. Basically, there are two ways to do this:
You can either invert a selection by going to Image -> Invert Colors. Or you can choose “Invert” as a blend mode and it’ll ignore everything about that layer except for the transparency, and all opaque areas will be inverted. “Invert Colors” is useful when you want to quickly invert a selection like a square, and the “Invert” Blend Mode is useful when you want a smooth transition into the inversion.
We have a longer tutorial that goes into creative uses of color inversion. If you come up with a clever use for this feature, send it to us so we can post it here.
